![]() Garden of the Gods Photography Workshop May 18, 19 & 20, 2012 Instructors: Andy Cook & Bruce du Fresne
This workshop is geared for those who
are just discovering the world of photography or who wonder what it's
all about. It is ideal for those who are new to photography and have
taken our Digital SLR Class or for those who have some understanding of
the basics of photography and how to work their camera. We will be
teaching Exposure, Metering and Composition in a classroom setting on
Friday night and then, on Saturday and Sunday mornings, we'll help
participants develop a field workflow on location in Garden of the
Gods. On Saturday afternoon we will demonstrate some Photoshop
techniques and process a few images. This workshop will emphasize
digital photography. The information will be covered in simple, easy to
understand language without getting bogged down in hard to understand
(dry) technical detail. Participants will get a handout covering class
material. If you have been taking photographs please consider bringing
what you think is your best work for critiquing purposes. It will
help us identify how to help you improve.

Bring: All camera
equipment to class on Friday night including the camera's manual. We
recommend having a polarizing filter to use with most of photographs on
this workshop. A lens range from 18 mm to 70 mm is
recommended, but not necessary. We also recommend using a sturdy
outdoor tripod that can adjust from standing height (without
cranking up a center post) to very close to the ground. This type of
tripod does not have attachments from the legs to the
center post; i.e. the legs can move independently. Also bring hiking
boots and a flashlight to the field portions of the workshop. We may be
walking in predawn darkness.

Weather is not guaranteed! This is a
highly, instructional workshop, we do not attempt to shoot all of the
wonderful locations in Garden of the Gods; our primary concern while in
the field is to teach participants a field workflow. Workshop fee does
not include transportation, lodging or meals. Maximum number of
participants is 8. This workshop will not be canceled based upon
participation level, so feel comfortable making travel arrangements.
This workshop does involve some hiking and elevation gain, typical
length of hike is about 10 minutes each way. The elevation of Colorado
Springs is about 6,500 ft. Please consult with your doctor before
attending our workshop. We require a waiver (for injuries) be signed
before going into the field. We will send the waiver upon registration
please return it at the start of the workshop.
